The Veltini (our uncaf version of the Espresso Martini)

The Italians have grappa as an after-meal digestif to aid digestion. And while I am, admittedly, not Italian, if I’m hoping to actually sleep after a night out, I'm always looking for an alternative.

Espresso martinis are still the drink of the summer but, when my body isn't taking kindly to caffeine, I whip up our version that will leave you feeling relaxed and ready to sleep when we finally call it a night!

Here's our recipe for what we now loving call call a Veltini

Ingredients for 1 serving:

1 sachet of Velty Classic
2 ounces vodka
1/2 ounce coffee liqueur like Kahlúa
2 oz cold water
1/2 ounce simple syrup

Supplies needed:

Shaker
Ice
Jigger (or shot glass)

Instructions:

  1. Pour Velty sachet into shaker and add 2 oz of water (or 1 shot or ¼ cup) and mix until dissolved.
  2. Add 2 oz of vodka, ½ oz of coffee liqueur, and ½ oz simple syrup to the shaker, along with the fully dissolved Velty. Fill the cup with ice and shake until chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass of choice.

If you're feeling like a smoother finish, add a splash of milk or cream to your liking and enjoy!
